Immortals

This was a excellent movie in my opinion. It starred Kellan Lutz (better known to most as Emmett Cullen in the Twilight Saga) as Poseidon and Mickey Rourke (who has played roles in Sin City, The Wrestler, Iron Man 2, The Expendables and 9 1/2 Weeks). Henry Cavill plays Theseus, a young warrior trained by his mentor, the old man of the village. This old man does in fact turn out to be Zeus in mortal form. Rourke's character Hyperion attacks Theseus's village murdering every villager left behind including Aethra (Theseus's mother) and taking Theseus captive to work in the salt mines. That is where the virgin oracle, Phaedra first meets Theseus. Phaedra has a vision of Theseus and therefore she and her three decoys cause a riot. She uses the chaos that was created to escape the mines with Theseus, Stavros (played by Stephen Dorff), a monk in the service of the Oracle named Nycomedes and a few other escaped slaves. Theseus is told by Phaedra after having another vision that he must lay his mother to rest and therefore he returns home to do so. Upon placing his mom, Aethra to rest in the tombs Theseus discovers the Epirus Bow and is then attacked by Hyperion's creature the minotaur. Theseus is successful in killing the creature but not before the minotaur had time to poison Theseus by scratching him. At this point Hyperion is on his way to Tartarus. Theseus saves his friends from execution using the bow before he ended up collapsing from the poison. The oracle, Phaedra tends to his wounds and ends up falling in love with Theseus and is stripped of her visions which she always saw as a curse.  The group returns to the Oracle's temple only to find a trap had been laid for them there. Theseus loses the bowbecause of it. Seeing Theseus outnumbered 2 gods defy Zeus and come to his aid. They were Ares and Athena. Zeus arrives to deal with the two but Athena begs forgiveness. Ares on the other hand asked for no forgiveness and was executed for his disobedience. Zeus then tells Theseus no god would ever come to his aid again. The bow is brought before Hyperion. He in turn uses it to break through the indestructible gate of Tartarus. He ignores the battle between his men and the Athenian army as he walks through to Mount Tartarus. He kills the king of Tartarus along his way who though that he could reach a peaceful agreement with Hyperion. Hyperion then releases the Titans using the bow before Theseus and Stavros could stop him. The gods (Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo and Hercules) battle the titans as Theseus is battling Hyperion. At the end of the fight scene it jumps ahead in time. Phaedra has given birth to a son named Acamas, who is Theseus's son. His son is met by the old man who tells him that one day he will also fight against evil like his father did. Acamas has a vision of gods and titans battling in the sky.
It was an excellent movie with a lot of action and just a little bit of romance. They left it to where they most definitely can be a sequel to it. I loved it and strongly recommend it. However this movie is not suitable for the children in my oinion. There is a lot of violence and blood in this movie.
